    In this webinar, CMA National Director Gary Williams gives incoming Board Interns a basic introduction to governance. The session offers a starting definition, explains the difference between governance and operational management, and briefly discusses the difference between ministry governance, corporate governance, and non-profit governance. It explores the role and responsibilities of the board, how the board goes about meeting those responsibilities, and a few important high-level principles that interns should understand.

    Gary Williams

    Gary has spent his life in Christian ministry. After time at Cornerstone Community, Youth for Christ, and university, he spent eight years as Associate Pastor (Administration and Community Care) at Southport Church of Christ in QLD, where the idea of CMA took shape. In 2001 he left the church to establish CMA, and has been CMA's National Director since its inception. He has a Bachelor of Education and a Master of Business (Philanthropy and Non-Profit Studies) from QUT in Brisbane. He lives on Tamborine Mountain with his wife Debbie, and has two adult children Abby and Landon. He attends his local Presbyterian Church.
